Canadian Report - October 2001 |
||
I'm sure it's a beautiful time to be in Canada, peak foliage, and all. However,
on the SF scene, the only news to report is the winner of the first Sunburst
Award - Sean Stewart for Galveston (Ace/Berkley Publishing) who took
home the bronze medallion and the $1,000 C prize. The shortlist included: Before
Wings by Beth Goobie (Orca Books) Midnight Robber by Nalo Hopkinson
(Warner Aspect) The Black Chalice by Marie Jakober (Edge SF & F
Publishing) Lord of Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay (Viking/Penguin Books
Canada) and Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson (Alfred A. Knopf Canada) For
more info, go to www.sunburstaward.org.
Below the 49th: SF books by Canadian authors that are available in Canada but published by US houses. A Paradigm of Earth by Candas Jane Dorsey (hardcover) Tor /

The good news is next month there are quite a few books I'm looking forward to telling you about. As always, if you have a publishing tidbit for me from the Great White North, please share it by emailing astasin@hotmail.com |
