Scooby-Doo
(June 14th)
After the openings of Spider-Man and Star Wars...you're probably
ready to stay out of theaters for a while. The very thought of a
Scooby-Doo movie is more than enough encouragement for me to pick up a
book. I do like the tagline though..."Be afraid...be kind of afraid."
On
the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing what Steven Spielberg and
Tom Cruise have done with Philip K. Dick's Minority Report opening
June 21st. Sharon Archer points out that two different print versions are
out this month in her
US Books column.
Even though they get pretty well shredded, Dick's story ideas are always
fun, and the trailer does look hot.
I
can't figure out whether or not I'm looking forward to Disney's Alien as a
housepet animation, Lilo and Stitch, arriving the same day as
Minority Report. I guess it's handy if you can drop off some rugrats
in theater 2 while you go see Cruise and Co. in #1.
I
distinctly remember that Sawicki liked Cube when it came out in
1997. I wonder if he liked it enough to want to go see Hypercube: Cube
2. I'm not betting on it though.
