   Bradbury,
an Illustrated Life: A Journey to Far Metaphor by Jerry Weist, Ray
Bradbury (William Morrow - Hardcover - $34.95) I don't know how many of these
beautiful Bradbury retrospectives William Morrow printed, but I suggest you get yours
early. Sharon Archer (SFRevu's Assoc. Editor) is a second generation Bradbury fan, and
the collection of cover art and sketches, combined with lots of details about
where and when left her trying to wrestle it out of my hands. Considering that
you can get it for less than $25(and free shipping thrown in) at Amazon, it's a
steal. Now if you could get it autographed as well...

Paragon
Lost: A Chronicle of the King's Blades by Dave Duncan (Hardcover)
Duncan's latest King's Blade story (#4) stands by
itself, so if you haven't read The Gilded Chain, Lord of the Fire
Lands, or Sky of Swords, it's a great place to jump into this world
of "swashbuckling fantasy". Or if your taste runs more toward Space Opera, you
could let youself get
Trapped by James Alan
Gardner (Mass Market Paperback $6.99) Jack Womack, our
friendly publicist (and author) at EOS gives us a clue:
An all-new exciting tale set in his Expendable
universe, Trapped tells
the story of a group of six disparate people -- all “misfits” in some way, yet
each possessing a unique talent that he or she has yet to discover -- pulled
into an unofficial murder investigation; along the way, they uncover an alien
conspiracy that not simply threatens,
but also involves, the very underpinnings of their society. |

David "Action" Drake? David "Jungle" Drake? David "Subtle" Drake? Perhaps
not, but there's little doubt that Seas of Venus will be high adventure

Kube-McDowell (Mass Market Paperback $6.99) McDowell
has put together a pulse pounding SF/Thriller about a scientist's desperate
search for the soul. Personally, I feel much the same way about the soul as the
Loch Ness Monster, it's fun to think it might be in there somewhere, but less
fun to be sure.
Fortress Draconis: Book One of the Dragoncrown War by Michael A.
Stackpole (Mass Market Paperback $6.50) Stackpole's
new fantasy series begins this month, with the next book in November. |

The Haunted Air: A Repairman Jack Novel by F. Paul Wilson (Hardcover
- October 2002) Repairman Jack isn't so much the Maytag
variety as a one man X-Files. He's been "fixing" problems that fall beyond the
edge of weirdness since Wilson introduced him in The Tomb (1984). See the
author's official site at:
repairmanjack.com/home.html
A
Coldness in the Blood by Fred Saberhagen (Hardcover
- October 2002) A vampire hero. A smashed statue containing
a gem of power. An ancient evil. The book description claims an "unbelievable
tale of suspense, action and pure page-turning excitement" I'm glad. I'd hate to
think it was the sort of thing that could actually happen.Dark Passage by Junius Podrug (Hardcover
- October 2002) Can you actually write a book that mixes
Israel, Los Alamos, Roman Legions, Sex, Murder, Jihad, High Technology, and
Raining Frogs? Well, sure, if you throw in time travel.
The Legacy of Prometheus by (Paperback - October 2002) Can Space Cowboy
Cash Carlson save the world from its energy crisis by launching solar power
collecting satellites? Not if the UN has anything to say about it. High intrigue
written by one of our favorite pseudonymous space scientists, Eric Kotani, and
his writing partner John Roberts.

Kirk her own, Star Trek®, Captain's Peril is the exciting new novel that spans

adventure yet.
