Man with the Screaming Brain by Bruce Campbell (wr/dir)
(SciFi Channel / ) - Bruce Campbell, perhaps the ultimate sf/horror B-movie actor, manages the triple-threat of writer, director and star of SciFi Channel's Man with the Screaming Brain. Part '50s-era spoof, part showcase for Campbell's offbeat sense of humor, the movie delivers more laughs than gasps, with an ending that sf fans could see coming from a long way off.
Sky High by Mike Mitchell (dir)
(Walt Disney Pictures / ) - Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) is the son of the world's two most powerful superheroes- The Commander (Kurt Russell) and Jetstream (Kelly Preston)... so going to the ultra-secret Sky High, an academy for superheroes-in-training, should be a breeze. Not quite. He hasn't discovered his own abilities, he faces persecution from bullies at school and he's relegated to the "sidekick" track. But life may get better IF he can foil a super villain plot, save Sky High and become accepted as a hero. Maybe. Coming July 29 from Walt Disney Pictures. Also starring Bruce Campbell, Lynda Carter and Dave Foley.
(Sony Pictures July 29, 2005 / ) - As the future rapidly becomes the present, the line between SF and Technofiction gets increasingly blurred...as it does here when a "rouge AI" controlled fighter takes its lessons from Mary Shelly's creation and turns on it's masters. Comrades in arms are: Josh Lucas as the hunky Lt. Ben Gannon, Jessica Biel as the curvy Kara Wade and Jamie Foxx as the comic relief guy - Henry Purcell, Crusty Sam Shepard plays their sage leader, Capt. George Cummings and the AI plays itself. Tom Clancy fans should get a kick out of this movie, full of mil-tech-talk...and even some clues as to what the future actually holds. Check out the military briefing at the official website (Sony Pictures: Stealth), especially the network technology section, to see what I mean. On one level, you might consider this a remake of Failsafe(1964), but we can hope they have better luck this time.

Do these two conmen have what it takes to become heroes? Also starring Monica Bellucci, Peter Stormare and Jonathan Pryce. Directed by Terry Gilliam, released by Dimension Films.
The Cave by Bruce Hunt (dir)
