Winner of the WSFA Small Press Award Announced. by ( 19 October 2008 / ) - The Washington Science Fiction Association is pleased to announce the winner of the 2008 WSFA Small Press Award for Short Fiction: "The Wizard of Macatawa" by Tom Doyle published in issue 11 of Paradox magazine (www.paradoxmag.com), publisher and editor Christopher M. Cevasco. "The Wizard of Macatawa" tells the story of how the life of a young girl intersects with that of L. Frank Baum.

Craig Miller to Write the Resistance by (Wolfmill Entertainment 17 October 2008 / ) - Writer Signs On For Film & TV Series Andrew Dillon, executive producer of That's-A-Wrap Productions, today announced signing American writer Craig Miller to write the script for the company's science fiction action-adventure feature and television project Resistance.

Resistance is the story of a covert attempt by aliens from outer space to take over the Earth and a guerilla-style battle to stop them when most of the world won't believe the threat exists. What makes the story even more interesting is its focus on a band of super-smart teenagers at the center of this conflict: not only do they have to save the world but they have to deal with school, hormones and dating. Space and Time Open for Submissions by (Space and Time 16 October 2008 / ) - Space and Time Magazine will reopen to fiction and poetry submissions on September 22nd, 2008.

Continuously published since 1966, Space and Time Magazine publishes science fiction, fantasy, and horror, and specifically seeks submissions that blend these genres in new and unique experiments. Both experienced and novice writers of fiction and poetry are welcome to submit. Fiction submissions should be no longer than 10K words in length. Submissions of 7,500 words or fewer are preferred. The David Gemmell Legend Award by ( 09 October 2008 / ) - The David Gemmell Legend Award will be presented for the very first time in 2009 for the best Fantasy novel of 2008. The award will be given to a work written in the 'spirit' of the late, great David Gemmell, a true Master of Heroic Fantasy. (Source: )
