2009 Prometheus Awards Finalists Announced by Libertarian Futurist Society Press Release (Libertarian Futurist Society 24 March 2009 / ) -

The Libertarian Futurist Society has announced finalists for this year's Prometheus Awards, which will be presented during Anticipation, the 67th World Science Fiction Convention, August 6-10, 2009, in Montréal, Quebec, Canada.

Compton Crook Award Nominees Announced by (BSFS 21 March 2009 / ) - Michael Walsh reports from the Baltimore Science Fiction Society where the nominees for this year's Compton Crook Award (for first novels in SF/F/H) have been announced. They are:

    * Into the Storm - Taylor Anderson (Roc)
    * Black Ships - Jo Graham (Orbit)
    * Singularity's Ring - Paul Melko (Tor)
    * The Way of Shadows - Brent Weeks (Orbit)

Anticipation Announces the Hugo Nominees for 2009 (for works published in 2008) by ( 20 March 2009 / ) - Anticipation, the 67th World Science Fiction Convention, has announced the ballot for the 2009 Hugo Awards. The announcement on the Anticipation web site includes links to some of the nominees' web sites, including free downloads of selected nominees.

Web serialized Lee & Miller novel Saltation now a serial podcast by ( 10 March 2009 / ) - Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's Liaden Universe® novel Saltation, originally presented as a chapter-a-week web serial in first draft, is available as a weekly podcast starting immediately. The podcast of the ongoing saga of Theo Waitely is narrated by award-winning radio broadcaster Charlie Schlenker and can be found at http://saltation.fireheartfoundry.com/, a site furnished by Fireheart Foundry's Sam Chupp, who produced and read the podcast of Lee & Miller's first Theo Waitley novel, Fledgling, which is available at the same location.
