Bacigalupi and Pratchett Win ALA Awards by ( 11 January 2011 / ) - Paolo Bacigalupi has won the 2011 Michael L. Printz Award for Ship Breaker (Little, Brown), edited by Jennifer Hunt. The awards were announced this morning at the American Library Association’s midwinter conference in San Diego.

The Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime contribution in writing for young adults was given to Terry Pratchett, and Peter Sís was chosen to deliver the May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture. Also the Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production went to Listening Library, producer of The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex, narrated by Bahni Turpin.

2011 Hugo Award nomination period is now open by (Renovation 03 January 2011 / ) - Reno, Nevada, USA - Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, is delighted to announce that the 2011 Hugo Award nomination period is now open.

Nomination ballots will be accepted from January 1, 2011, to Saturday, March 26, 2011, 23:59 PDT for the prestigious Hugo Awards and the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Members of Renovation who join by January 31, 2011, and all members of Aussiecon 4, the prior year's Worldcon, are invited to submit nominating ballots.
