Diana Wynne Jones: 16 August 1934 - 26 March 2011 by
( 27 March 2011 / ) - Word is spreading throughout the Internet that Diana Wynne Jones died Saturday, 26 March 2011, after a long battle with cancer. There's a piece on John Scalzi's blog and a twitter post by Neil Gaiman. This morning it was confirmed on her official website.
Jones writing has entertained me through some dark times and some happy times. Her works made me laugh so hard I cried especially her Tough Guide to Fantasyland. I was surprised how many of her works I had read and remembered fondly when I looked at her list of publications. Often we read an author's work interspersed with those of others and it isn't until you look at a list of what they've written that you realize what a big part they played in your reading and your life. She will be sorely missed by all of us who enjoyed the worlds and people she created for us.
