This is the first, generally, available hardcover publication of The Vor Game, the seventh individual hardcover put out by NESFA press. The Vor Game is the fifth in the Vorkosigan series in terms of chronology and the seventh in order of publication. The Vor Game won the Hugo for Best Novel of 1990 and chronicles Miles Vorkosigan in his first two military assignments after graduating from the Imperial Military Academy.

As a new ensign, Miles receives his first assignment and quickly ends up neck deep in mystery, trouble, and suspiciously familiar company. As he works to keep his nose clean while getting himself out of his predicaments, Miles is called upon to use every ounce of his creativity and charm, all leading to a rousing adventure with unseen consequences and some twists that not even Admiral Naismith can see coming.

Miles Vorkosigan is the fragile, impetuous, creative hero of McMaster's best known series. Miles is born to privilege but stricken by a medical condition that should keep him out of any kind of action. But, never let it be said that Miles Vorkosigan is a quitter or one to let a few strikes against him stand in the way of adventure or getting the job done. Because of his physical limitations Miles is forced to use his intelligence which he often does in spectacular fashion.

This is another great book put together by NESFA. It's great not only for the content but for the care and effort that has gone into the layout, production and design. Don't get me wrong, the most beautifully put together book is not really worth having if what's between the covers is drivel. That's not the case here.

NESFA has selected a book that has not seen wide distribution in hard cover, if at all, and has packaged it with the kind of care only they have. And what a selection they've made. McMaster's Vorkosigan series is intelligently done, well written, fast paced, and extremely entertaining. In fact, you should have the whole series, not that you really need to read them in order but after reading any of them you'll want to. Highly recommended.
