Once in the Bahamas, they begin their research and after a trip to the library, the librarian catches up to them and asks them to come see someone with him. They're cautious, but agree. This time, it's the earrings that their au pair, Nellie Gomez, wears that is the connection that gets them the information that they need. They need to follow up on this clue but the Bahamas are in the area controlled by the Lucians, and Isabel Kabra is determined to see Amy and Dan out of the running. Once again, as you follow Amy and Dan on their adventure you learn about historical figures and events. This time the focus is on pirates such as Anne Bonny and Calico Jack Rackham. There's also a link with the Right Excellent Nanny -- Nanny Sharpe who learned how to protect her people. All of this information is vital to finding the next clue. Each book in the series has in one way or another amped up the danger and challenge in find the clues. Storm Warning is no exception. The children will be faced with some terrible incidents that will they will never be able to forget. They will learn to depend on each other even more. And, they will also find that trust can be violated even when no harm is done. The question of who to trust, and when, is still one that they must deal with. They also must decide how much should they trust. But they must go on because they realize that the only hope for everyone is for them to find the clues first. So, they go on to the next clue and hope they're good enough to survive to the end of the hunt.
