by Kou YaginumaReview by Gayle Surrette Vertical Paperback ISBN/ITEM#: 9781934287866 Date: 06 July 2010 List Price $10.95 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Asumi Kamogawa passed the entrance tests and was accepted to Space School, a high school for training young people to be astronauts and other space workers. The problems begin almost immediately as Asumi is very small for her age, none of the space suits fit her, and the school is on a tight budget. One of the professors seems to have a problem with her father and he's determined to see that Asumi doesn't last in the program. Just how will he approach forcing her to quit? And will it work? As if moving to the city and living in a dorm and having an incredible class load isn't stress enough. Once again there are Missions (or Chapters) based to the main story line. Then there are several flashbacks that fill in some background on Asumi's life and tangentially some other students. Of course, this volume ends with a cliff hanger that we can only hope to be answered in volume 3. Again the art is black and white drawings (color cover) and helps to move the story line along adding visual touches that help to express the character interactions. This is building into a very nice story with young people that are out on their own (it's a broarding school environment for the most part) and needing to learn to find themselves and how cope with school, their classmates, and the general problems of growing up.
