True or False Planets by Melvin and Gilda Berger is a science book that first gives the reader a true or false statement and on the following page provides the answer and explanation. The book is set up so that each question is on a right hand page so there's no chance to peek at the answer without turning the page.

Once you turn the page to find out if you were right, you'll find the answer and a short fact related to the topic. While I've left childhood behind a long time ago, I found the questions interesting and the added bonus factoid not the usual for these type of books.

Each page is in full color and the images used are not only beautiful, but from the Hubble Telescope, NASA, as well as the usual photographic resources. There is a long list of the photo credits at the front of the book.

The true/false statements are ones that you need to think about such as "Uranus spins like all the other planets." Granted the way it is asked does imply that maybe it doesn't but that's because so many of us are test takers, but for a younger reader it may be a bit of a gotcha statement.

So, for the budding astronomer and planetary buff, this might be just the book to help get them started thinking about what they already know or think they know about our solar system.
