The Twelve Bots of Christmas
by Nathan HaleCover Artist: Nathan Hale Review by Gayle Surrette Walker Books for Young Readers Hardcover ISBN/ITEM#: 9780802722379 Date: 28 September 2010 List Price $14.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / What could make a better Christmas book for a young child or someone young at heart than the "Twelve Days of Christmas" themed for techie-types? The Twelve Bots of Christmas is as you'd expect a retelling of the "Twelve Days of Christmas". I'm sure you know that song-- it's played just about everywhere within reach of ears every Christmas season. Nathan Hale give us a delightful change to the wording that gives the song a more modern and twisted view of electronic gifts. A robot Santa and his nine bot reindeer analogs take us through the twelve days. Each day is a two page spread of colorful drawings that will bring a smile if not a chuckle. I can imagine sitting with a little one on my lap and singing through the book with the child or children. Two of my favorite days were a cartridge in a gear tree -- you've just got to see the illustration for this one. My second favorite was four calling Borgs. But who could resist the nine androids dancing. Maybe this year, readers can actually find something a little different to enjoy during the holiday season.
