Flash Fiction Online for December 2010 has stories by Ellise Heiskell, Michael Plemmons, Gary Cuba, a classic Anonymous reprint and the first in a series of article by Bruce Holland Rogers called Technically Speaking.

Flash Fiction Online is a website with very short stories, updated every month. These are reviews for their December 2010 issue.

Ellise Heiskell's "Round Trip" is a nicely bizarre tale about a woman who appears to be pregnant, but not with your average baby .

Michael Plemmons' "Isabel" is a story told in flashback about why you shouldn't catch fireflies. It has a very nice sense of its time and place.

Gary Cuba's "Firing Squad" tells the story of the execution of a coward. This one had a twist at the end.

The Classic Flash story in this issue is "The First Puritan Christmas Tree" by Anonymous. The Puritans would not celebrate Christmas and this posits someone who breaks from the norm. I found it a bit unlikely.

Flash Fiction Online now on a mid-month schedule so the December issue will still be available by the time you read this. If not, you should still be able to find it as a back issue. Check them out and make a donation at www.flashfictiononline.com.
