Fans of Star Trek and Star Wars debating over the coolest villain, the best starship, and the biggie: who would win a fight between...? In Star Wars vs. Star Trek, Matt Forbeck pits these two powerhouse franchises against each other in nearly every conceivable way. Want to know who'd win a fight between C-3PO and Data? It's in here. Is an X-Wing better than a Jem'Hadar fighter, and could Deep Space Nine survive a fight against the Death Star? It's in here.
With the ingenuity of a true fan, Forbeck plunges into a dizzying array of clever match-ups, including:
Who wouldn't want to read a slate of matchups like this? Each comes with a description/analysis of the contender, then a bit of fiction that brings the two together--often explosively. The vignettes are brilliantly staged, showing plenty of invention, with vast story potential on every page. Forbeck also has a great pair of forewords, from Jeremy (Boba Fett) Bulloch and Tim (Tuvok) Russ, expressing their thoughts on the rivalry between the two powerhouse franchises. Both are witty and appropriately backing their own camp, in a way that keeps everything lighthearted and fun. Forbeck acknowledges that the intensity of fandom can often get heated, but the tone of the book remains enjoyable throughout. Fans of either Star Trek or Star Wars will want this book, if only for the entertainment value of seeing Vader's Executor demolish the Enterprise-E.
Highly recommended. |
