Trenholm's three novels, edited and published by O'Dine, were all nominated for Canada's SF Aurora Award, and one, Stealing Home, was also shortlisted for the juried Sunburst Award. Most recently, he edited Blood and Water an SF short fiction collection, released by Bundoran Press in August 2011. "Virginia did a great job promoting new authors," he said, "and establishing Bundoran as a significant player in the speculative fiction field in Canada. She has always provided tremendous support for her writers. I hope to build on that tradition."
Bundoran Press will publish the third volume of Neil Godbout's young adult fantasy trilogy next year, but Trenholm plans gradually to change the focus of the company to concentrate solely on science fiction. He will publish two science fiction novels in 2013, with plans to increase the number of books released in both 2014 and 2015. "I hope to produce a solid catalogue by both established and new authors. My ambition is to make Bundoran Press the pre-eminent Canadian voice in science fiction."
O'Dine will not be severing all her ties with Bundoran Press. She has been retained by Bundoran to edit Mr. Godbout's third book and will continue to provide advice and support as Trenholm establishes himself as a publisher. "I've succeeded as both a writer and an editor. Publishing is a new challenge but one I'm looking forward to tackling. Virginia's advice will be critical in the early stages."
"I may be relinquishing control of Bundoran Press," said O'Dine, "but it will always have a place in my heart. I wish Hayden every success in his new undertaking."
The change of ownership becomes effective on December 31, 2012.
