"The Memcordist" by Lavie Tidhar, was posted on December 24, 2012. Lavdie Tidhar always writes interesting stories and this one has references to things in his stories about Central Station, although that locale is not used. Before Pym was born, his mother had a device installed that would record his life and send it out to millions of followers. We go back and forth from birth to death and times in between in the Narrative of Pym. Pym's life in unexceptional but there is part of it that is always in his thoughts. It was a time spent in Polyphemus Port on Titan in Year Seventeen in the Narrative of Pym. He meets a girl and they spend a wonderful time together. In subsequent years, the smell of basil would remind him of her. This was a beautiful, poignant tale. Look for this and more stories at Eclipse Online. |
