When Rebekah Moss' childhood friend, Linda, had been found dead with her wrists slashed, she decided to be rewired. Rewiring left "normal motor, memory, and cognitive processes intact, burning out only those neural pathways associated with grief and trauma." Her memories of Linda would disappear.
In her life, Linda had suffered many losses, including the sudden death of her mother. She refused rewiring because she felt that love came with the possibility of loss. She even tells Rebekah that she would want to be remembered. This was a beautiful story, illuminating the issues of such a procedure. Highly recommended.
