Every month, Tor posts stories on their website as well as excerpts from novels, comics, and articles. They are free, so I recommend you check them out. Each new story will be reviewed separately. This was posted on September 11, 2013.

"A Rumor of Angels" by Dale Bailey -+- Tom Carver is a fifteen-year-old boy on his father's farm in the American Midwest during the third year of the drought that brought on what was called the Dust Bowl. In the middle of a hot July day, he abruptly walks away from the farm, heading west.

He had heard rumors of angels from other people heading west. He winds up traveling with a family named Overton (Frank, Lily, and their son, Charlie), still hearing rumors of angels.

What does he find in his journey? I'll let you discover that for yourself in this beautiful, lyrical tale.
