Every month, Tor posts stories on their website as well as excerpts from novels, comics, and articles. They are free, so I recommend you check them out. Each new story will be reviewed separately. This was posted on September 25, 2013.

"Fireworks in the Rain" by Steven Brust -+- We are told in the introduction that this story is an original tale about some of the same characters that appear in The Incrementalists by Steven Brust and Skyler White.

Our story is told by Phil, who wants to do something for a man named Peter Washington. His method is to find a switch (a scent, a sound, a sight, etc.) that will trigger some emotional response. We also find that Phil has resorted to murder to conduct what is called meddlework. That's where this story lost me. Give it a pass. I'll do the same for the book.
