"The Rain is a Lie" by Gennifer Albin -+- This is set in the world of Gennifer Albin's Crewel. In the introduction, we are told "In Arras, space and time aren't ideas, they are tangible substances woven together by beautiful girls into the very fabric of reality. The looms that create Arras are as controlled as the Spinsters who work them, ensuring a near idyllic world for the average citizen."

James Howson is a nine-year-old boy very aware of everything. He notes the announcement that it will begin raining at 5 PM and continue for 12 hours. He is excited that he will be allowed to meet his mother downtown later that day to shop with her. He encounters a man who tells him "The rain is a lie." What does that mean? Interesting story that might make you want to learn more about this world.
