I don't know where to even start with this one. The artwork is beautiful and evocative of the destruction you'd expect after an apocalyptic zombie plague strikes worldwide. Even the more upbeat scenes have a sharp edge.
Santa has basically turned into a drunken slob. Marauders struck the North Pole while he was out delivering presents to the survivors of the plague. He returns home just in time to hold his wife as she dies. The elves try to help but he's inconsolable. He wants to die but can't until every last person who believes in him is gone. The problem is he still gets one letter a year -- someone, a child still believes.
You can imagine Santa is not too happy and finally decides to do something about it. Think about as dark as you can go and you might be in the ballpark of Santa's plan. But things don't go quite as the reader -- or Santa -- expects.
This is definitely not a children's Christmas story. There's plenty of harsh (come on you know what I mean) language and adult situations. However, for those folks who are fed up with Christmas commercialism and might like something a bit different this might be the graphic novel for you (or them).
