Seanan McGuire is best known for a zombie series written under her Mira Grant pseudonym. The series was well received and detailed the exploits of a group of adventurous bloggers. McGuire herself is a long time blogger so it's a case of write what you know--excepting the zombies--we think.
This is the first time her non-fiction work has been collected and the collection contains a wide variety of different writings on a broad diversity of topics. The collection also contains poetry which has been reprinted from two out of print, limited edition collections.
McGuire writes with a very in your face style, much as the protagonists in her novels. She's prolific and is a John Campbell award winner. She's also probably been a bit under the radar for a lot of readers who are just now starting to put together who she is in her various guises and finding out that she's written a lot of material all over the place. This is an opportunity to get a better handle on her as an author and as a person. It's entertaining and enlightening and well worth chasing after.
The book is published by NESFA, the New England Science Fiction Association, and I've talked in the past about their books and the support they deserve. These books are beautifully put together and worth every penny. NESFA also manages to grab interesting authors and then collect lesser known, but fascinating material from them. Such is the case this time with McGuire.
Highly recommended on all levels. You won't be disappointed by this and if you are a McGuire or Grant fan you'll be doubly enchanted.
