Here's the 35th issue of Nightmare Magazine, with the usual two original stories. You can find the issue and how to pay (or not) for it at their website (see link at the top of this review). Here are my reviews of the two new stories in this issue.
The first original story is "Where It Lives" by Nathaniel Lee. -+- Eric's mother has died and it has more than the usual effect on him. He spends his time hiding under stairs. His body changes. Something odd is happening to his father, too. His friend, Tilly, whose father had died helps him survive. Good idea. Well executed.
The other original story is "And This is the Song It Sings" by Megan Arkenberg. Our narrator tells us that everyone has a ghost story. She listens to the ones from runaway girls. And she has a secret of her own, "Out there on the side of the highway, somewhere beneath those dying trees and behind those ridges of banded rock, there is a monster." Makes for a nicely chilling tale.
That's the 35th issue of Nightmare Magazine. You can access the stories for free. Check out their website and support them, if you want to, in some way.
