Warden Harry Dresden now has an apprentice, Molly Carpenter. It was the only way to save her and it was what his mentor had done for him when he'd violated the the laws that wizards were expected to follow -- even if they didn't know that such laws existed. Molly is settling into learning, and teaching is helping Harry becoming a better wizard himself.

Karrin Murphy, Chicago cop, brings Harry in when a mysterious death occurs in a pawnshop. Soon there are other deaths in the area and the connection leads to crime boss, Marcone. There's a monster out there killing people and Harry is determined to find out why, how, and who's behind it.

Harry has to agree to some questionable -- and hopefully short -- partnerships in order to find the lair of the monster and stop the killing.

There's plenty to like in these graphic novels that combine comics to tell the entire story in one volume. Butcher's involvement means that the characters maintain their personalities from the novels and the story lines maintain the worldbuilding that has gone into building the world that Wizard Harry Dresden deals with in the novels.

The art work is realistic with a fantastical element that takes the place of special effects to bring action and magic to the pages. So if you've enjoyed the novels and still have a soft spot for comics, this is a great way get more adventures in the world of Harry Dresden.
