For Sherry Carne it was just a normal day at her store, only today she had to get the tax information together. Then a young girl stormed into her office like she owned it and tried to tell Sherry what to do. Meanwhile, four men stalked into the store. Somehow they had all the customers and her workers standing meekly by while they were forcing a woman to kill herself.
Sherry wanted to confront them and call the police. The girl, Stephanie, convinced her not to do that and to leave so that the men would follow and leave her customers and workers alone. If not for Stephanie, Sherry would have been taken by them. A rapid chase and ducking into a pizza shop allowed them to catch their breath and for Sherry to question Stephanie for some answers.
Sherry found it difficult to believe what she was told. At first, she thought she was on some sort of candid camera episode, but no those men had been evil predators. Stephanie had called for help and Sherry needed to stay with her if she wanted to survive.
In The Immortal Who Loved Me, Leonius and his men are back, and they want Stephanie. Stephanie and her sister were captured and turned by Leonius in a previous book and evidently Leonius feels that he owns them and wants them back.
Of course, Sherry just might be a life mate for one of the immortals in the area. But of course, things aren't simple. Sherry may have had an immortal involved in her life prior to this, but doesn't know anything about them. She's now finding out that there's an entire world of supernaturals or vampires that live and work with normal humans and she didn't even know they existed until Stephanie stormed into her office.
Everyone needs to protect Stephanie and keep her from getting taken by Leonius. Sherry needs to find out if she's a life mate for one of the immortals and just who the immortal was that has been around in her life. There's danger, misdirection, romance, comedy, and page turning action.
This particular book has many of the characters that have been in previous books and it was nice to see what they've been up to when they were off the page. Regular readers of the series will enjoy catching up with characters whose story they enjoyed. If you've never read a previous Argeneau Vampire novel before don't worry, you'll catch on readily since there's usually enough explanation as they bring the non-immortal up to speed on who and what they are. So, enjoy a bit of romance with your Urban Fantasy.
