Here we have the 83rd issue of Apex Magazine, with two new stories, two reprints, and other features.
The new fiction begins with "The Laura Ingalls Experience" by Andrew Neil Gray. -+- Ella is a wounded individual that has to make an important decision. Before she does, she goes on a tour that recreates the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Nicely done, very poignant story.
The other new story is "The Teratologist's Brother" by Brandon H. Bell. -+- Telly's brother, Peter, is found dead. He was gay and his body had been mutilated--castrated. What had happened. Telly finds out that his brother had written a book of mystical musings and had many followers. Lot's of drug-trippy stuff here. Not to my taste.
Apex Magazine works in a unique way. If you are a subscriber, you get your issue when it’s published. Otherwise, you wait a month. They are worth supporting, so check them out at their website (see link at the top of this review).
[Ed. Note: Sam doesn't review reprints unless they are from the current year.]
