Flash Fiction Online is a website with very short stories, updated every month. These are reviews for the new stories in their April 2016 issue.
The first new story is "Foreign Tongues" by John Wiswell. -+- An alien thinks that "Ice cream is the friendliest entity on this planet" and has a fruitful conversation with the various flavors. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Earth's humans. Amusing.
The second new story is "Songbird" by Shveta Thakrar. -+- Shailaja feels that she is a bird and that she must sing. Her aunt and uncle try to make her stop singing, but eventually her song comes out and has an effect on all. Nice fantasy.
The third new story is "The Knives of Her Life" by Jennifer Todhunter. -+- Our narrator avoids her abusive mother by working in a Chinese restaurant, becoming proficient in the use of knives. Nicely done.
By the time you read this, the May issue might be up, but the March Flash Fiction Online should still be available. Look for it as a back issue or read any older issue. Check them out and make a donation at their website (see link at the top of this review).
