Here we have the 85th issue of Apex Magazine, with two new stories, one reprint, and other features.
The new fiction begins with "Folk Hero" by Mary Pletsch. -+- Major Carlisle Beckett is after the legendary Ardua County Sniper. The sniper had killed his father and was part of a group of rebels called the Sundowners. The verses of a song about the sniper runs around in his brain. He thinks of his daughter and wanting to leave a better world for her. Great story which really convinces one of the legendary hunt for the sniper.
The second new story is "Cuckoo Girls" by Douglas F. Warwick. -+- Nikki and Samantha have lived through separate horrors of seeing their family and loved one killed by some monster. And they alone survived. They have read message boards posted by girls with similar experiences. They know that their monsters will eventually come to kill them. But will one of them survive the attack on the other? Imaginative little tale. Very well done.
