Flash Fiction Online for December 2016 has new stories by Hannah Dela Cruz, Kelly Sandoval, and Kat Otis, and a reprint story by Alexis A. Hunter.

Flash Fiction Online is a website with very short stories, updated every month. These are reviews for the new stories in their December 2016 issue.

The first new story is "Hinterlight Abbey" by Kat Otis. -+- Hinterlight is defined as "The area surrounding the flight vector of a faster-than-light spaceship. Also applied generally to visible emissions from a generation ship in space". On a genship, only one child in a family is allowed to breed. Bronwyn has been given to the Abbey like her aunt was before her. She learns a deep secret. Good little tale.

The second new story is "A Menagerie of Grief" by Kelly Sandoval. -+- When their daughter, Lexi, dies, Will's grief takes the form of a dragon and Shane's is a dog. A sad, poignant tale.

The third new story is "A Box Full of Winter" by Hannah Dela Cruz. -+- Our narrator has an encounter with Robert Redford. Strange.

By the time you read this, next month's issue might be up, but this month's Flash Fiction Online should still be available. Look for it as a back issue or read any older issue. Check them out and make a donation at their website (see link at the top of this review).
