Here is Shimmer #37 with four wonderful stories and an interview with each author.
The first story is "Fallow" by Ashley Blooms. -+- William is a ten-year-old boy, son of a single mother who dates various men and William is jealous. He likes Misty and plays kissing games with her. Nothing grows on his neighbor, Earl's field despite his best efforts until William plants a glass bottle in it. A glass statue grows out of it. Other things grow whenever William plants something. What should he plant next? Very good unsettling little tale.
The second story is "Feathers and Void" by Charles Payseur. -+- Iv(y) and her crew have been transformed and bonded as Crows to fight a space war, but they have turned against both sides. Information comes their way and they find a way to go on fighting. Interesting.
The third story is "We Lilies of the Valley" by Sonja Natasha. -+- Yvonne is the sole occupant of a space station for a year and had time on her hands. She finds what looks like a seed in the debris from a comet and plants it. It grows into a huge plant. Yvonne's relationship with Sierra, a woman she met before she left also grows. They combine to make a beautiful story.
The fourth story is "Dandelion" by John Shade. -+- The cells of soldiers live on in a very curious way. Won't say more, just read this beautiful tale.
