Here's the 86th issue of Lightspeed, the online magazine. You can find the issue and how to pay (or not) for it using the link at the top of this review. Here are my reviews of the original stories.
The first science fiction story is "The Law of Conservation of Data" by John Grant. -+- Rehan and the rest of his prospective pentagon follow Suze's suggestion to visit a casino called Slots Palace which consists of recreated personalities of people killed many years ago when the casino was thrown into a black hole. Only Rehan finds these "people" interesting and decides on a real change to his life. Interesting story.
The second science fiction story is "Mix Tapes from Dead Boys" by E. Catherine Tobler. -+- Hadley is exploring a derelict ship near Neptune and has strange visions and thoughts. Boring.
The first fantasy story is "A Touch of Heart" by Alvaro Zinos-Amaro and Adam-Troy Castro. -+- Don Zhuo is an unsuccessful farmer, jealous of the success of his neighbor Gan Shihuangi. He meets an old man named Su Feiyan who is a retired assassin with the group known as Black Tooth. Don hires him to kill Gan but things do not go as planned. Wonderful fairy tale!
The second fantasy story is "How to Find a Portal" by Debbie Urbanski. -+- When our narrator was a child, she wanted to move through a portal to another world. Some children, including a friend, were able to move. They eventually came back changed but found their way back through their portal. As an adult, our narrator still is looking for a portal to the detriment of her family relationships. Another interesting tale.
