Broken
by Kelley ArmstrongReview by Gayle Surrette Spectra Paperback ISBN/ITEM#: 0553588184 Date: 25 April, 2006 List Price $6.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Once we get going the action doesn't let up. It seems Elena and Clayton have learned from their experiences in prior books. There's more caution but it doesn't help when Elena is the target and she's constantly off balance and tripping over her own feet. Wolves have a nine week pregnancy and humans have a nine month one and no one knows for sure when Elena is due because she's six months and looking nine. Some of the other factors of pregnancy such as sensitivity to smells during pregnancy are worse for Elena since as a werewolf she's extremely sensitive to smells anyway -- and now she's tracking rotting corpses -- the yuck factor when you think about it is rather high. Armstrong builds on the universe and adds more depth with the informational background of this story. The world continues to become richer as we learn more about the supernaturals and their strengths and weaknesses. While you don't have to start reading with the first book (Bitten) it would be a shame to rob yourself of the enjoyment. But, if you don't want to wait then jump in now and catch up on the back-stories later.
