In Broken, Elena Michaels is pregnant. Clayton and Jeremy are keeping her close to home. A female werewolf is very rare and now she's carrying a child who will carry the werewolf gene from both parents. Elena understands the caution but is chaffing under the restrictions. She wants some action and then Xavier Reese calls with a job. All they have to do is steal a letter, the From Hell letter, said to have been written by Jack the Ripper, from a collector in Toronto. It sounds easy enough especially when Xavier says he'll pay by telling them where to capture the rogue mutt they've been looking for.

But nothing is as easy as it seems when a portal to Victorian England opens, zombies intent on killing Elena come through, the city has an outbreak of cholera and typhus, and it seems Jack the Ripper has also come out of the portal. Elena, Jeremy and Clayton must close the portal that the letter contained before it's too late.
