It's difficult to know what to say about such a project. What it is not is a polished professional sitting on a shelf anthology of zombie stories. What it is a polished professionally published collection that gives the reader the impression that it's bits and pieces of work from the survivors of a horrific and catastrophic event ala 28 Days Later. If you were the survivor you'd not be sitting down to write and rewite and polish your words to they gleam with brilliance. Are the stories well told? Yes, but they have that unfinished edginess to them of "I was there. I saw this with my own eyes."

The art work whether polished finished pieces, rough photoshopped photo images, or outsider art are all an interesting look in shock and numbness. The stories are first person narrations of what happened to the me-narrator. I get a bit put off by the ones that include "and then they bit me and I became one" endings.

Meg Epstein's "My Zombie Girlfriend: On the female undead in film and literature" is an interesting essay in the midst of the disconnected collection of art and stories and is a well written piece about how the zombie fits into the horror mileau.
