I'm looking forward to attending this year's Balticon with Larry and Jerry as author GoHs, and a ton of programming, it should be a great way to spend Memorial Day weekend. I haven't been to the new hotel site, but getting it out of the city and into the country certainly makes access easier for those us non-locals.

Editor's Note: Unfortunately, neither Ernest nor I made it to Balticon this year. Luckily, Sam Tomiano attended and sent in his report.

Balticon is a regional convention with an attendance of approximately 1,800, and diverse program tracks including literary, science, art, filk and costuming. In addition to program tracks there are many special events which occur throughout the weekend in the "main tent" such as plays, filk performances, guest of honor presentations and one of the best SF&F masquerades on the East Cost. Fixed function spaces include our art show, a large dealer's room, a large tabletop gaming room, a video gaming room, and video and anime rooms which are open throughout the convention. For more information on Balticon 41, including information about accommodations at the convention hotel, please check the convention web site at http://www.balticon.org, or contact us at rsvp@balticon.org.

Located just off of I-83 in Timonium, Maryland, the Hunt Valley Marriott has free parking, is accessible via the Baltimore Light Rail system, and is walking/short drive distance from the newly re-vitalized Hunt Valley Towne Center that now boasts a full-service grocery store (Wegman's), and a wide variety of restaurants.
