Jim Munroe is always outside the box, and frequently taking shots at it. His online book Angry Young Spaceman was the first ebook I reviewed back in 2002, and he was editor of the snarky antimediaestablishment mag "Adbusters" in the 90s. After reading Everyone in Silico I interviewed him for SFRevu ( Jim Munroe Interview, and now he's posting a low budget Sci-Fi movie online. Infest Wisely follows Jim's central theme of the downside of uploading or downloading commercial tech into our bodies and brains and watches the results when people start ingesting nanomachines that let them "take pictures with their eyes and cure cancer." What could possibly go wrong with that?

Made in episodes, he's just posted the first on online (sse links above).

From release/information:

...In my last mass mail (nearly a year ago!) I mentioned that I was dreaming of lo-fi sci-fi movie schemes.

Well, the advance preview screening of my first feature is happening two weeks today! INFEST WISELY is about a new, chewable nanotechnology that lets people take pictures with their eyes and cures cancer. But the early adopters find out it's hard to uninstall something after it's spread through their bloodstream...

I wrote it with a Voltron-inspired story structure. Seven 12 minute episodes directed by seven different directors stand on their own, but with an ongoing narrative and interconnecting characters that allow it to combine to form a feature length movie.

It came together as beautifully and as strangely as the giant robot itself. Check out our brand new site and watch the trailer here:

If you are in Toronto the advance screening (AKA the Infestor's Meeting) is happening:
