About Matthew Jarpe Matthew Jarpe is a biochemist and writer. He was born in St. Joseph, Michigan and grew up mostly in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He now lives in Quincy, Massachusetts with his wife Michelle Morris and their son Samuel. He works at a pharmaceutical company in Cambridge called Biogen Idec. He has a PhD in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins and he works on autoimmune and neurologic diseases and cancer. He brews all his own beer and makes a mean barbeque.
