The Machine Man Letters is a short novella by Monte Davis about a man who discovers his goal in life, in a very strange way.

The Machine Man Letters was sent to me by the author, Monte Davis, in hopes that it should be reviewed. It is a 36 page chapbook by Sam's Dot Publishing, which appears to publish quite a bit.

The story is a series of letters from a man named Ted who decides to start calling himself Machine Man after he foils a robbery by braining the thief over the head with a gunball machine. He becomes a local celebrity but it starts an obsession in him about his weapon of choice.

He goes way too far and winds up in an asylum where he acquires an even stranger obsession, but I won't spoil that for you. Most of the story is pretty funny because of the outlandish thoughts and actions of our hero. it does get serious as we learn why Ted is the way he is.

This is a nice little book and if you want to read about one of the strangest guys of all time, I recommend it.
