This is the second volume of the Dogby Walks Alone series, and Dogby is still on the run from his past as a Mascot at the HappyPlace Theme Park. There are a lot of stories floating around about him, some true, some not quite so true. But a man is defined by more than just his history. What he does today should count for something, and Dogby tries to make every day count.

Here in this small Alaskan town, Dogby is up against The Leader, a masked man that brought the town back from the brink of failure by using illegal mail fraud and pyramid schemes. Up against The Leader and Dogby is Shelikof, supposedly the descendant of the Russian that originally settled Alaska, also bent on controlling everyone and everything around him, and backed up by a legion of loyal Russian cavalry soldiers. Somehow, Dogby must discover who is who, and how all the pieces of these power games fit together. Fortunately, he still has allies, though some will come from unexpected places.

Adding to the highly enjoyable weirdness are a number of characters and scenes straight out of popular culture. Look for Squad B, A.N.N.I.E, a scene from The Thing, and lots more, all unapologetically woven into the tale, but always making complete sense in the context.
