Tom and Jamie are best friends, and have been since Jamie moved to Dinosaur Cover with his dad, who is opening a dinosaur museum in the first floor of the lighthouse. The boys love all things dinosaur, but they don't just have to study the bones, you see they found a cave from which they can enter the world of dinosaurs. In this adventure, they arrive in the dinosaur world to find their friend Wanna not where they expected. Searching for their friend they find a herd of Ankylosaurus on the march. Unfortunately, one of the babies has wandered away into dangerous territory.
These slim, high illustrated books are just the type of thing I loved when I was going through my dinosaur stage. Mixed in with the adventure of Jamie and Tom are dinosaur facts and even some survival tips (spread your weight out and don't struggle when in quicksand).
Since the stories all feature dinosaurs, the language may prove difficult for some, but I don't know any children in the heat of the dinosaur frenzy that won't take the time to learn the names of their favorite dinosaurs along with their basic facts. There is a glossary at the end of the book that defines the terms.
These are ideal books for young readers who want more of a challenge in reading, while still having a simple story that lets them daydream of finding their own cave with an entrance to a world that is lost in time.
