Mel does manage to get back and no one does believe him. Even he can't return to the land of pointed people and things. His family has him examined by doctors but he's only a klutz. Or is he?

The illustrations are delightful, especially in the pointed universe. I couldn't help being reminded of The Point a story by Harry Nielson that was animated as a television show. It's now on YouTube and I went back and looked and while not as similar as I first thought the underlying messages are very similar.
