Calliope (Callie) Reaper Jones is living in New York City in a small apartment and working as an assistant to the Vice President of Sales at House and Yard, Inc. It was a crappy job but she hoped to get an in to the fashion industry, where she really wanted to be, working via her boss; but then the worst thing that could happen happened--her boss liked her. Life seemed doomed to a cycle of work, work, and more work when the strange started happening. By strange, I mean a part-dragon monster thing was in the lobby of her apartment building, a homeless person she'd never seen before knew her name, and her father's assistant Jarvis (who, by the way, is a faun) showed up at her office to tell her that her father and all the top executives had been kidnapped and she needed to come home.

From official release/information:

Product Description: Calliope Reaper-Jones so just wanted a normal life: buying designer shoes on sale, dating guys from Craig's List, web-surfing for organic dim-sum for her boss...

But when her father—who happens to be Death himself—is kidnapped, and the Devil's Protege embarks on a hostile takeover of the family business, Death, Inc., Callie returns home to assume the CEO mantle— only to discover she must complete three nearly impossible tasks in the realm of the afterlife first.
