This is the sixth book written by Kim Harrison set in The Hollows universe, a world where normal human kind and the supernatural have combined so the presence of witches, demons, vampires, werewolves, pixies and elves is nothing so much as common place. Rachel Morgan, the protagonist of the series is a bounty hunter-witch who lives in a church with her vampire roommate, a pixie and his family and more than one curse. This time it's the demon world that gives Rachel grief, primarily in the form of Al, a demon who wants her dead and who is supposed to be imprisoned but is managing to get out--every night. On top of this, Rachel is being asked to go into demon land, the very place where Al lives, to retrieve a sample of elven blood that could hold the key to elven freedom. Just another day in the life of Rachel Morgan.
