First Rider's Call is the sequel to Green Rider, in which Karigan G'ladheon first became a Green Rider, not in answer to the usual call, but by stumbling across a dying Rider and taking on the obligation of delivering his message. Since then, Karigan has gone back to her life as a merchant's daughter and heir, and now returns to the Riders in answer to a call that brings her out of bed in the early morning, riding off to the King's city in her nightgown to rejoin the King's special messenger service.

From official release/information:

Product Description: Second in the Green Rider series from the New York Times bestselling author of The High King's Tomb.

Once a simple student, Karigan G'ladheon finds herself in a world of deadly danger and complex magic, compelled by forces she cannot understand, when she becomes a Green Rider--one of the magical messengers of the king. Forced to accept a fate she never would have chosen, she attempts to return to her life as the daughter of a wealthy merchant, but the magic in her blood is too strong. Pursued by the ghost of the legendary First Rider, she rejoins the Green Riders to confront an ancient evil.
