Gruffen (The Dragons Of Wayward Crescent)
by Chris D'LaceyCover Artist: Adam Stower Review by Gayle Surrette Orchard Books Hardcover ISBN/ITEM#: 9780545168151 Date: 01 September 2009 List Price $9.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Lucy needs a special dragon, one that can protect her from the things that go flitting about at night. Luckily her mother is an artist who makes ceramic dragons. Only some of her dragons are very special and she makes a very special one for Lucy. He's named Gruffen. Lucy's mother thought her fear of the flying thing was just scary dreams but there really is a flying creature and Gruffen saves the day-- or rather night. This is a very cute story with some great dragon illustrations throughout. Just about every child loves dragons and worry about those things that go bump in the night that parents just pooh-pooh. Chris D'Lacey manages to tell a great story that explains one possible explanation and how Lucy and Gruffen manage to take care of the problem in a creative non-violent manner. Entertaining and helpful to children with night time fears of the dark, The Dragons of Wayward Crescent: Gruffen is a book that just might help. Even if it doesn't help, it's at least a fun story with some really interesting dragons.
